Representative Bart Gordon - Now Is The Time!

Representative Gordon,
I do not believe I am a crackpot or alarmist. I am an educator in your district. Please do not follow the destructive path that those cowardly greedy senators have set for America. Oppose the immigration bill passed today out of that formally great body in Washington.

Your Tennesseans and America demand that you step up and become a visual and vocal opponent of this destructive anti-American legislation.

Please use the platform and forum that your supporters presented to you during the last election. This issue is not racial, not a matter of verbal semantics, not a republican or democrat party issue. This is about the America you love and want to represent. The cost of this senate legislation is not just a monetary calculation. The true cost is the loss of America.

Please deviate from the politically safe course you have taken. I'm not asking that you forget the issues that you campaigned on, but to grasp the most important issue of your career.

You have the opportunities and access to the press, to fellow representatives, and to the public (the voters that placed you in Washington). Become vocal! Become a political activitist from inside the House. Do not limit yourself to ineffectual mailings and photo-opt smiles. Be the voice of the Tennesseans that count on you to represent them.

Please Mr. Gordon do what is right for your people. Perhaps there is a political price in becoming an American Hero. Has there ever been an American Hero that did not pay a price, but emerged as a hero?

Please help America and Tennessee.

Thank you.

Before Reading This America, Get Your Boots On!

Subject: Border Security, Comprehensive Immigration Reform Pass Senate

William H. Frist, M.D. - United States Senator, Tennessee - United States Senate Majority Leader
Senator William H. Frist, M.D. - U.S. Senator, Tennessee - U.S. Senate Majority Leader

Dear David,

Today I'm proud to say that the Senate has acted on an issue that bears directly on our core responsibility to make America safer by passing a comprehensive immigration reform bill that puts border security first.

We’ve taken a bill that the American people would have concluded was amnesty, and we've taken out the amnesty while putting in the security.

The legislation has a six-year plan to dramatically increase the number of border patrol agents hired, trained, and deployed to the southern border. It provides substantial reinforcement to our borders and to the laws on the books. And it also provides a means for some to earn citizenship while enforcing necessary restrictions.

We passed a bill that rises to the challenge of solving the problem of illegal immigration with a comprehensive plan that balances the needs of our growing economy with our heritage as a land of immigrants.

Every nation must keep its citizens safe, and its borders secure. We shouldn’t have to choose between respect for our history and respect for our laws - and with the bill the Senate passed today, we don't have to.

A COWARD'S FATE

Mr. Frist,
I'm sure this email will go the way of all other correspondence from the people that voted for you in Tennessee, to your cowardly deaf ears.

Because of your complete disregard of the voters pleas for you to SECURE OUR BORDERS I will dedicate until my dying day to campaign against you for any elected office you are planning to seek. I will utilize word-of-mouth, print, internet, and any other venues that will present opportunities to have you defeated for public office.

I hope the price you required to sell Americans and Tennesseans to a third world country and to corporate interest was worth it?

By the way, regardless of your rhetoric, you are endorsing amnesty for criminals!

Enjoy your permanent retirement!

Mr. Gordon May Be Getting The Point - It's About SECURE OUR BORDERS Now!

Dear David,

Thank you for contacting me about
immigration reform and amnesty proposals.
Hearing from you helps me better represent
Middle Tennessee.

I share your concerns about recent
proposals by the President and others to
grant amnesty to illegal aliens. It is
certainly unclear how effective an amnesty
program would be at ending (rather than
encouraging) illegal immigration. Amnesty
sends the wrong message. Instead of
deterring illegal immigration, amnesty would
only add to the problem by encouraging more
people to cross our borders illegally in
hopes of someday receiving amnesty
themselves. This could cost taxpayers
billions of dollars and put a severe strain
on our nation's social services programs
designed to aid the poor, elderly and
disabled.

I believe that our country needs to
enforce its immigration laws, not allow a
massive new influx of aliens. One way to do
that is by adequately funding enforcement
activities, a move I have supported. That
is why I am co-sponsoring a variety of
immigration bills. H.R. 4313, the TRUE
Enforcement and Border Security Act,
provides for the construction of a border
fence along the entire U.S. / Mexico border.
H.R. 4032 expands the use of expedited
removal proceedings for illegal aliens
detained throughout the entire country
(currently expedited removal is only
utilized for illegal aliens detained within
100 miles of the U.S. border) and prohibits
banks from providing mortgages to illegal
aliens. H.R. 780 provides funding for a 20
percent increase in the number of border
patrol agents each year from 2006 through
2010.

In December, I supported H.R. 4437, the
immigration bill which passed the House of
Representatives. This bill does not include
any kind of amnesty or guest worker program.
Rather, it provides for strengthened
enforcement of our immigration laws and
enhanced border security. It stiffens
penalties for a variety of immigration law
violations and cracks down on employers who
hire illegal aliens at high cost to American
workers.

Please know that I am listening closely
to Middle Tennesseans on this matter and I
am working hard to address the serious
problems in our nation's immigration system.
Rest assured that when this debate returns
to the House of Representatives, I will work
to ensure that any legislation passed by
Congress is right for our country and right
for Middle Tennessee.

Stay in touch,
/s
